The Circulating Packets have long been one of the most popular activities of the Society and Members can now use the National Philatelic Society’s Packets to buy and sell Postal History as well as Stamps.
This is of great benefit both to those who have duplicates they wish to be rid of and collectors who want to fill gaps in their collection, usually at lower prices than they would have to pay commercially.

With the Circulating Packet – Stamps, packets composed of books of stamps belonging to several members are circulated to buying members throughout the UK. Having received a Packet and bought some items (or not, the choice is yours), you forward the Packet by 2nd class post or pass it by hand to the next member on the list and send your payment direct to the Society.
With the Circulating Packet – Postal History each Packet consists of photocopies of postal history items, which are circulated and from which members buy (or not, the choice is yours) by sending an order to the Packet Secretary and forward the packet to the next member on the list.
Both types of Packet comprise three sections with their respective circuits
- Great Britain
- Commonwealth
- Foreign
Members may join any or all of these sections and more than one circuit in each should they so wish, and of course can participate in both the Stamp and Postal History Packets which operate independently.
Members of the National wishing to sell may contribute material to the Circulating Packets whether or not they are buying members of a Packet.
However, we regret that
- We cannot accept material for sale in the Packet from members living outside the European Union since the Society cannot accept liability for VAT charged on entry into the UK.
- For insurance reasons the Circulating Packet cannot be sent to members living outside the United Kingdom.
