  • The obsession with butterflies of Lord Walter Rothschild - Vladimir Kachan describes the Victorian passion for butterfly collecting.

  • A postcard to an iconic property and a postcard about a major biblical discovery - Two redirected postcards catch the eye of Michael Goodman. One is addressed to Cragside, the Northumberland home of the Armstrongs and the second to Cambridge which has biblical connections.

  • What the Stuart Rossiter Trust does for philately - With its annual memorial lectures and its important publishing role, the Trust does a great deal for philately as Susan McEwen explains.

  • "Undercover Mail" after the 1967 Six Day War - John Davies explains how mail destined for Gaza and the West Bank has been intercepted and held by the Israeli authorities.

  • Caesar's Wife - or Stamp out vandalism at Home - Whilst deploring Royal Mail's vandalism, Michael Round asks where we collectors are entirely blameless in this regard and describes his battle to retrieve stamps affixed to Packet envelope.

  • Never on a Sunday and other Belgian curiosities - Dave Hill explains how the background to the "Do not deliver on a Sunday" labels on Belgian stamps and how the scheme worked in practice and  then takes a quick look at a couple of aspects of post World War II Belgian - envelopes printed using surplus Allied maps and the 105 reduction in postal charges.

  • The sideways duplex handstamp - By  combining an obliterator and the town of postings, Duplex cancels saved time in cancelling mail and were trialled in 1853. Ray Barton describes the sideways duplex handstamps that were introduced on 30th May 1854 and were widely used until the early 1870s.

  • Keith Tranmer (1928-2018) - An obituary on this distinguished philatelist who was a regular contributor to Stamp Lover for many years.
