What is the NATIONAL
PHILATELIC SOCIETY?
- One of the largest
general philatelic societies in Great Britain whose
members are drawn from throughout the UK and Overseas
- The Society
offers the renowned National
Philatelic Society Library. Formerly based in Charterhouse
Street, London EC1, the Library is now located in
the Search Room of the at The
British Postal Museum & Archive, Freeling
House, Phoenix Place, London WC1X 0DL. UK based
members may borrow books in person and by post.
- The Society
holds its Meetings, normally on the second
Saturday of the month, at the adjacent Phoenix
Centre.
- Occasional mid week
meetings and country meetings are also held.

- The Society also
serves a worldwide membership and provides facilities and services, as described
below, to those Members located further afield.
- The National PS has celebrated
its Centenary, having been founded by famous stamp
collector and philatelic writer Fred J Melville
as the Junior Philatelic Society in 1899
