- Meetings
normally held on the second Saturday of each
month with an interesting display by a guest or member. Go to
Meetings & Events and see all the
Displays scheduled for this Season - you're bound to find your particular
interests catered for and others that will add to your knowledge of philately.
The Saturday Display is preceded by the Society's Monthly Auction.
Occasional mid week meetings and country meetings are also held.
- Stamp Lover, the Society's award winning
32 page illustrated magazine, sent free to members six times a year. First
issued in 1908, Stamp Lover has become renowned for its wide variety of
philatelic articles and news.
Members may also submit a free classified advertisement for their wants and
sales in each issue (circulation around 800 copies)

An impressive Library comprising over
7,500 volumes plus an extensive range of periodicals from many parts of the
world. Most of the books and some of the periodicals may be borrowed for up to
one month by members through visiting the Library or by post. A superb selection of stamp catalogues from the UK, USA and many
other countries may be consulted at the Library
- Stamp and Postal
History Circulating Packets through which members
may buy or sell material
- Monthly Auctions of around 400 lots of stamps, postal history and literature with
room/postal bidding
- Book Sales – Lists of second hand books and catalogues are sent to members with most issues of Stamp Lover.
Items are sold on a "First Come - First Served" basis.
- Philatelic seminars - These are organised
by the National Philatelic Society and are advertised on this website and in
the philatelic press. Admission is by ticket, with reduced prices for members
of the National Philatelic Society.
- "Shop Window" through which
members may purchase albums, catalogues, accessories and philatelic books and
publications at advantageous prices. It offers the convenience of home delivery
(postage extra - 2nd
Class or parcel post – max £4.50 per delivery in the UK unless otherwise
advised when placing the order) or collection at Meetings.
- Annual Competitions in
different classes with trophies for the winning entries.
- NPS Appraisal
Scheme - The Society runs the NPS Appraisal Scheme for those considering
entering the National Competitions at Stampex. The usual fee for using this
Scheme is waived for participants who are members of the National PS.
