Apart from awards at exhibitions, a number of awards are made nationally and internationally; those of particular interest in the United Kingdom are as follows:
Roll of Distinguished Philatelists
The Roll of Distinguished Philatelists records those who have achieved international recognition for their outstanding studies and research in the philatelic sphere, demonstrated through their own collections and in their writings. Invariably those who are invited to sign the Roll have benefited the philatelic community through their expertise, time and talents given in a voluntary capacity. The Roll is signed each year during a prestigious ceremony held as part of the annual Philatelic Congress of Great Britain.
Details of the award and application forms are available from the ABPS

Excluded from consideration are philatelic research and studies, the formation of collections, journalistic work or the reading of papers.
