Euro-Scout 2010 is a Scout & Guide Philatelic exhibition being hosted by

the UK based Scout and Guide Stamp Club, which was founded in 1957. The

Exhibition takes place in the Shire Hall, Chelmsford, Essex from 14-16 May

2010, and is the eighth in a series of such bi-annual shows. The series began

in 1996 in Germany, followed by exhibitions in Austria, Italy, Belgium,

Czech Republic, Spain and Switzerland. At the Euro-Scout Exhibition in

Comacchio, Italy in 2000 the International Federation of Scout Collecting

Organisations (IFSCO) was formed.

These exhibitions are hosted by the Scout Stamp clubs where the event is

held. As we have not previously held such a show in the U.K., we were

requested to do this in 2010. All expenses are borne by the host country. As

Euro-Scout is not a club, there are no funds available to pay for this event.

Therefore we have been building up our reserves to hold this exhibition in

2010. We are pleased to say that the Post Office has agreed to sponsor our

special postmark, and a commemorative cover will be available.

We expect a large attendance from overseas, not only from Europe, but

throughout the world for this event, with many of those already having visited

the London International Festival of Stamps. At the same time it is

expected that many Scout and Guide Groups will visit the exhibition, when we

will be encouraging the youngsters to take up stamp collecting.

Approximately 200 frames of Scout and Guide philately will be on show at Euro-Scout

2010 with exhibitors from many countries. Most of the frames have been kindly

lent by Essex and Kent Philatelic Federations.

.

The Exhibition will be open from:

10.00 - 18.00 hrs on Friday 14 May.

10.00 - 18.00 hrs on Saturday 15 May.

10.00 - 14.00 hrs on Sunday 16 May.

There will be meetings of IFSCO, Scouts on Stamps Society International

(U.S.A.) and our own Club on the Saturday morning. There is no charge for the

Exhibition, and visitors are most welcome.
