Considerable support is available to help young
collectors and to assist those working to encourage youth philately and a
summary of these initiatives is:
|

|
- Stamp
Active A programme of activities to enliven stamp club meetings in a school or other organised young persons club. Subscribers receive an extensive folder packed with ideas which have been successfully tried and tested with young people across the country. Every three months an update pack is sent, offering new ideas and keeping members abreast of what is happening in the world of youth philately.
- Like to
Compete ?
Most youngsters like to compete, and they can do so by
showing their stamp collections to others. As a start, they can enter the Stamp
Active Competition. All that is needed is 4, 8 or 16 pages from their
collection. The pages should form a coherent display, and they could win a
bronze, silver or even a gold award. Their exhibits will be shown in public, at
the annual Autumn Stampex exhibition held in September at the Business Design
Centre in London's Islington. If they do well, they can enter the British Youth
Stamp Championships. Requiring a higher standard of display, the prizes are
medals, with cups being presented to the best in each age group. There is also
the chance to become British Youth Stamp Champion. Many of our Champions go on
to represent Great Britain at International Stamp Exhibitions, held around the
world.
