INITIATIVE ENTERPRISE

The Rowland Hill Awards were instituted in
1997 as a joint venture of Royal Mail and the British
Philatelic Trust with the support of the Association of British Philatelic Societies.
Their aim is to encourage and reward fresh ideas which help promote
Philately.
The Awards are divided into three sections, each under the aegis of one of the
sponsoring bodies:
- Royal Mail: for Innovation
- British Philatelic Trust: for
Initiative
- Philatelic Traders' Society: for
Enterprise
The Royal Mail nominations cover Innovation in:
- Stamp innovation
- Journalistic excellence - 2 awards for philatelic press and other media:
- Print & Broadcast Media
- Philatelic Writing
- Excellence of service from Post Office Counters
The British Philatelic Trust awards
recognise Initiative in:
- Personal contribution to Youth Work
- Achievement by a young collector
- Outstanding authorship and research
- Promotion of philately in the community and through team efforts
- Fresh ideas recognised as reaching out to "new horizons"
The Philatelic Traders' Society acknowledges
Enterprise in:
- Business enterprise and development
- Personal contribution
