Auctions are part of the monthly Saturday meetings of the NPS at the British Philatelic Centre, 107 Charterhouse Street, London EC1.The monthly auction is room and postal bidding. For those attending in person, viewing begins at 11.15 a.m. The Auctions start at 1.00 p.m. being followed by refreshments and at 2.45 pm, the Display advertised in Meetings & Events.

  • They offer the chance for members of the NPS to buy and sell stamps, postal history and philatelic literature.

We regret however that we cannot accept material for sale in the Auction from NPS members living outside the European Union, since the Society cannot accept liability for VAT charged on entry into the UK.

Bids can be accepted from Members wherever they may live, subject to any trading restrictions with a particular country and the member being responsible for any customs duties that may arise on the arrival of the purchases in your country.

  • Each sale comprises 400 or more lots that vary in price from £2 (reserve) upwards of £100. There is generally something for everyone including specialized items and the more common material from all around the world. Bargains are not unheard of!

  • Surplus NPS Library literature is normally sold via separate Literature Auctions that the Society runs from time to time.

  • CATALOGUES are published for each sale and an example (with Results) can be viewed on this Web site at NPS Auction Catalogue. Members may have the monthly catalogues sent to them by e-mail - simply request that this be done by e-mailing nps@ukphilately.org.uk, indicating also if you wish to have the Results e-mailed to you as well - or through the post (add £4 Annual Subscription to cover postage). They may also be picked up, free, from the NPS at the British Philatelic Centre - so why not pay us a visit? The catalogue for next month's auction is usually available at the Saturday Monthly meetings.

  • VIEWING takes places from 11.15 a.m. on the morning of the Auction, but for those not able to attend on the day, Lots may also be viewed at 107 Charterhouse Street, London EC1M 6PT on certain days during the week of the Auction. Members should first telephone 020 7490 9610 to make arrangements and so avoid a wasted journey. Lots are not available for postal viewing.

  • The monthly auction is room and postal bidding - so have a look at

  • and then why not take part - but, sorry, only if you're a member of NPS. Our Constitution does not permit non-members to enter the fun. That can easily be remedied simply by going to How to Join the NPS!

  • Want to know what happened to those lots you didn't buy? Simply e-mail us for details of what the most recent Auction's lots were sold for, or if you wish to have the results e-mailed to you automatically each month (until you say otherwise).

  • The Philatelic Auctioneers' Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale (1973 revision) apply.

  • Correspondence sent by post regarding the Auction MUST be addressed to The Hon General Secretary, NPS, 107 Charterhouse Street, London, EC1M 6PT. Please do not use the words "Philatelic" or "Auction" when addressing the envelope.

  • All cheques must be payable to "National Philatelic Society" i.e. do not abbreviate to "NPS".

  • The decision of the Hon Auctioneer shall be final in respect of any dispute that may arise.
