Speakers’ list

ABPS Philatelic Lecturers and Displays. This is a vital tool for all those in societies who have to arrange the annual programme of meetings, giving details of those prepared to give displays, together with details of the talks offered.

The editor will be glad to hear from anyone who offers displays but whose details are not presently included. Please contact Geoff Longbottom, ABS Publicity and Publications Officer, Mill Close, Hickling, Norwich NR12 0YT tel: 01692 598844; e-mail

Model Constitution

Earlier this year ABPS published ‘A Model; Constitution for Societies’ as a printed leaflet. It has been prepared to help in the setting up of a new society as well as for those whose constitution was written some time ago and may now need updating. This model constitution can be used in its entirety or extracts can be utilised as needed. For those who want to avoid lots of keyboard time and proofing, the Model Constitution can also be made available as a floppy disk, or on a CD-Rom, at a cost of £1. For a copy of the leaflet, or a disk, please contact Geoff Longbottom, ABPS Publicity and Publications officer, Mill Close, Hickling, Norwich NR12 0YT tel: 01692 598844; e-mail: abps.phil@elics.co.uk

Small Grants Scheme

The aim of the Small Grants Scheme is to enable individuals, societies and/or Federations undertake initiatives that require additional funding. Its purpose is not to ‘balance the books’, nor to meet a deficit that becomes apparent after an event. Nor is it simply to promote the name and activities of ABPS. To this end, applications for a small grant must be received no later than three months prior to the staging of the event.

Spreading the word

The information stands at Stampex and Philatex, as well as at Federation events across the country, need a further supply of up-to-date information leaflets about the activities of the specialised societies affiliated to ABPS.

Please send a limited supply (50 leaflets is suggested) to Dane Garrod, CAB International, Wallingford OX10 8EE.

Copy dates (back)

The copy dates for ABPS News are as follows:

The dates by which material must be received are:

April: February 15

September: July 15

December: October 15

Material for publication in ABPS News should be sent to Hugh Feldman, Editor ABPS News, Juniper House, Ashdon, Saffron Walden, Essex, CB10 2HB, preferably as a Word document by email to hugh@feldman.f9.co.uk, on disk or CD-Rom or typed hard copy. However, please don’t leave it to the last minute to send in your items — as soon as they are ready, do submit them. Items for the ‘Diary’ in particular should be sent in as soon as known: this can be a help to others who may be considering holding another event in your area around the same time.
