- More on Melville - A cover obtained by our President, Frank Jones,
prompted Michael Furnell to research our Society's founder's activities in
stamp dealing. In this, the first of two articles, he describes Fred Melville's
business as a stamp dealer in 1918-1922, concentrating on the War Stamps
associated with World War I and the issues of the new countries that emerged
from that conflict, which he referred to as "Neurope". Also recalled
is the Philatelic Institute through which collectors could undertake
correspondence courses on philately.

party visit for members of the National Philatelic Society to BELGICA 2001 in
June. Here he gives his personal impressions of this international exhibition.
- Mail by the British to and from Latin America 1800-1880. Phil
Kenton describes the expansion of trade with Latin America in the 19th Century
as reflected in mail sent by British ships - Royal Navy vessels, British
packets and British-owned private ships.
